Catastrophic Injury
David A. Axelrod & Associates was successful in recovering two settlements on behalf of the family of a disabled child.
On August 27, 2003, the child was a passenger on a school bus that left the roadway, traveled down a steep embankment adjacent to the roadway, and rolled over. The child, who was twelve years old at the time of the bus crash, suffered permanent brain damage, paraplegia, orthopedic injuries and other multi-system injuries.
Working extensively with a number of nationally renowned experts in their fields, David A. Axelrod & Associates was able to identify several dangerous issues with the school bus. These defects included improper padding on the bus seats and dangerous exposed metal edges inside of the bus. David A. Axelrod & Associates was then able to establish that these defects caused the child to suffer serious injuries.
As a result, David A. Axelrod & Associates obtained a $3 million settlement with one manufacturer of the bus and later an additional $3.5 million settlement with the other bus manufacturer.
