A week later, plaintif experienced drainage from the surgical wound and, although lab tests showed high white blood counts, low albumin levels, and E. coli bacteria, defts failed to administer antibiotics to treat infection, causing pltfto develop sepsis leading to multi-organ failure and acute respiratory distress syndrome by July 6, 2000; pltf remained hospitalized for three months and suffered numerous related physical afflictions, including severe weakness, until her death on July 10, 2009 (survived by husband and 5 adult children, $1,400,000 medl. expense).
